By signing up as a volunteer, you get the chance to catch all the action, watch the drama unfold and participate in a local event for a good cause that has raised over $400,000 for The Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington.

What We Need You For
Challenge Marshal - SOAR needs volunteers to facilitate the events during the race. Challenges require judges, timekeepers, monitors and organizers to ensure the effectiveness and fairness of the race. Most likely, you will be a part of a challenge team of 4 to 10 people. In this role you will see teams struggling through some of the most bizarre and unique things they will ever do.
Shuttler - SOAR needs 20 volunteers to shuttle teams between locations at a few stages in the race. Shuttle legs could be anywhere between 1 and 50 km. SOAR will compensate drivers for vehicle costs. This is a great opportunity to get right into the action of the race.
Food Crew - SOAR needs volunteers to assist in the distribution of food to 40 racers and 100 volunteers. You would work closely with the food coordinator and the rest of the food crew. Similar to shuttling, you get to see teams as they take a break from the mayhem and reflect on the race.
Media Crew - New for SOAR 2012, we're hoping to follow as many racers as possible via social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube! This allows for great "in the moment" play by play action for friends and family that are following the race from home! SOAR needs a dedicated team of 5 volunteers with access to a vehicle to hop between stages as well as having access to a smartphone with internet access (iPhone, Blackberry, Android) that can post all the goods online as they happen! If you have any questions about this volunteer position, hit up Chris for more details!
